Ch. 1 Link – Hearing a Speech v. Reading a Speech

Both President Barack Obama and his challenger Senator John McCain were credited with giving excellent speeches on election night 2008.  Take a listen to these two speeches, then read a transcript of them.  Which gives you a better sense of what the speech was like?

    I find an advantage to both. Listening, you get the emotion and can feel the sway of the audience. Reading the speech, you gain the clarity of the words’ importance and similarities- Love of country – A time to come together and move forwards.

    Maybe the written speeches should be published at the same time so that we can see there is not that big of a divide between the politicians.
