Link Ch. 1 – Paul McCartney’s Baseball Stadium Concerts

UPDATE: Name of Citi Field corrected.

In 2009, Sir Paul McCartney played a concert at New York’s Citi Field, which was right across the road from Shea Stadium, where the Beatles played their first stadium show.

Concerts like this illustrate the huge range that group communication can take, going a from a few friends sitting around the table to tens of thousands of people at a rock concert.

(As a side note, I went to see Sir Paul perform at Fenway Park a few nights after this concert.)

  1. Paul Conti says:

The stadium name is Citi Field. Shea stadium was torn down after Citi Field was opened and dedicated.

  2. Francisca Bermudez says:

The difference in technology from when Paul McCarthy was in Shea stadium with the Beatles to Citi Field with his own band is testament to how advance we’ve become in such a short period of time. Granted, most people think 50 years is ancient, but for those of us “ancient” ones, it seems like a blur.

  3. Liam says:

Good to see George rocking that Gretsch all those years ago.

  4. Emilee Ploegstra says:

These are not just great examples of group communication, but a prime example of mass communication. Even though most of the Beatles are dead, including Sir Paul McCartney, they are still loved worldwide. They reached numerous societies and wove their way into the everyday lives of fans, not just those attending the concert. It also shows how much technology can change in one person’s lifetime. They went from a basic setup to Sir McCartney being surrounded by advanced technology, just like how communication has evolved rapidly.

Of course, Paul is not dead….
